With the increasing population the problem of traffic control has become very acute in almost all the big cities in Pakistan. The increase in traffic has also increased the number of traffic accidents and our roads are growing dangerous day by day. Unfortunately, we have little traffic sense and perhaps no respect for the traffic rules.
No doubt, bad roads and high speed driving are the main causes of traffic accidents Traffic problem in Pakistan is getting worse with every coming day, especially in big cities like Karachi, Lahore, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Quetta, Peshawar and Hyderabad. Government is doing little efforts to avoid traffic jams and other traffic problems in Pakistan.
The rising number of smoke belching vehicles during the rush hours has left the traffic policemen gasping for a whiff of fresh air.
They are badly affected by the evils of air pollution and a majority of them are either suffering from some ear, nose or throat problem or have problems of burning eyes, dizziness, lung infection etc. The high density of vehicles in metros is also responsible for the rise in the number of road accidents.
Traffic jams is another area where precious man hours get wasted and if anyone is heading for a hospital in case of an emergency, then the patient can only look up to God for mercy.
The area for parking vehicles, in metros especially is constantly shrinking under pressure from the rising number of cars and bikes. People dont have traffic sense. Traffic police and media should play their role in creating traffic sense amongst the people.
Our government and traffic police department must make the conditions of roads good. Different timing for starting and closings of offices and schools should be done to avoid the rush in the morning, afternoon and evening on roads.
If they do so, there will be fewer chances of accidents and traffic will move smoothly in the city and people will find themselves easy in driving.

It is evidently clear from the discussion that personal protective equipment is required for personal safety of the drivers. The personal protective equipment required by the traffic laws vary according to the kind of vehicle being driven by a driver. For example, traffic laws require motorcyclists to wear helmets whereas car drivers are not required to wear the helmets. Likewise, car drivers are required to wear safety belts whereas motorcyclists are not required to wear them. The set of personal protective equipment has been finalized for the different kinds of vehicles considering their individualistic designs, characteristics, and the risks they pose to the drivers. For example, a motorcyclist assumes immense risk of fracturing the skull when he is thrown off the motorcycle during the accident to avoid which, wearing the helmet is recommended. Likewise, when a car bumps into another car ahead because of overspeeding, the upper part of the driver’s body is drawn forward because of inertia and he may catch injury to avoid which, wearing the seat belt is required. When a driver does not fulfill the requirements of wearing the personal protective equipment while driving a certain kind of vehicle, he essentially violates the traffic rules. Overspeeding is condemned because of the safety of both the driver and of others around him/her. Traffic police instructs the drivers what maximum speed can be attained on a particular road. On such roads as motorways, minimum speeds are also established

and conveyed to the drivers through the signposts aside the road. These maximum and minimum speeds are established considering the topography of the area, the volume of traffic, the horizontal and vertical curvature of the road, and a range of other variables. Drivers are told to refrain from overspeeding or underspending because if they overspend, they are likely to budge against the car going ahead whereas if they underspend, they are quite as likely to be hit by the car coming from behind even in the normal speed. People tend to overspend in order to reach their destinations in as little time as possible because of several reasons like going to the hospital in emergency or being late from office. Irrespective of the reason, the personal safety of the driver as well as those around him/her on the road is the most important factor that a driver must consider, and thus should always refrain from crossing the speed limits. Vehicles need to be in perfect condition to ensure personal as well as others’ safety. When a motorcycle does not have its headlight on during the night, it may be easily struck by an approaching car on the opposite lane over a two-way road. Likewise, when a car does not give the right indicator to an approaching car just because the indicator’s bulb is fused off, he/she is quite likely to be smashed by the approaching car. While driving, it is extremely important to have the vehicle in the perfect condition. Drivers must regularly check the features of their vehicles like brakes, air in the tyres, fuel, indicators, lights, and engine etcetera. A driver assumes complete responsibility for maintaining his/her vehicle. If he/she gets caught in an accident because of such reasons, he/she is likely to be heavily fined.
